Yahoo Inc. is planning to shut down seven of its products including BlackBerry app. According to the company, the shutdown is among the regular efforts to evaluate and review the series of products.
“The most critical question we ask is whether the experience is truly a daily habit that still resonates for all of you today,” wrote Jay Rossiter, Yahoo’s executive vice president of Platforms.
This is the second group shutdown by the company.
At an investor conference last month, Chief Executive Marissa Mayer signaled about the removal of unwanted apps noting that 60 to 75 mobile apps would be reduced to 12 to 15 important apps.
The products that will come to an end are
- Yahoo! Avatars
- Yahoo! App for BlackBerry
- Yahoo! Clues (beta)
- Yahoo! App Search
- Yahoo! Sports IQ
- Yahoo! Message Boards website
- Yahoo! Updates API
These products will not be supported by the company from April 1, 2013 except Yahoo! Update API that will be shut down on April 16.
